Do you know what you want in life ?

Yes, you got it right, it is as silly and simple as asking for what do you want to have for dinner?

Seems simple question, but went asked, sends chills through your spine! Appears to be the simplest one but difficult to answer  yet the most dodged one. If asked most of the people will give answer in mono-syllables and the moment it gets subjective, they start fumbling.

Well, I asked the same question to myself instead of asking to others. And the only answer i got was "I don't know " .Yeah true, i do not know what i want in life, but for sure i know what i do not want in life. What i distaste the most and what i refrain from the most. I may not be able to list my wishes, but for sure know how to list down what i do not wish for. Or rephrasing , i do not know what to wish for, but for sure i know what not to wish for even in dreams. That's why all my prayers have always been vague (and guess that's why He is also confused :P )

Coming back to square one, do we actually know what we want in life. Even if we try to pen down , most of us will start with -

1) a big house (may be in New York or penthouse on Nariman Point) ,
2) big car (may be an Audi Q7 or Ferrari) ,
3) being a CEO of MNC ( like Tatas or Ambani) or
4) a world tour without thinking of expenditure , etc etc

All these appear so materialistic.

Not even a single line item which is not materialistic.

I read somewhere, if you want to know how rich you are, count the things which money can not buy

Have you ever wished for following:

1) spending more time with people who matter to you and can not do anything for you anymore (we do so only on their deathbeds )

2) sharing your roof with someone who has never known the joy of living under a roof (we pity them , but we rarely remember them in our wishes)
3) wished for the reputation same as the old man from village who doesn't know anything except for raising the farms ( we think reputation comes only with money and not hard work)
4) wished for sleeping under the sky without an AC or comforter or mosquito-repelant and count the stars without worrying for getting up early next day .
5) sitting by the river side and counting the ripples a stone creates when thrown in still water
6) watching the sun rise or the sun set without looking over the watch
7) being content instead of being happy

and like many ?

Am sure, none of these can ever be bought with money , but can be bought only with compassion and just by being human and respecting the rest of the living beings.

Try it.

Cheers

Khushi
