Happy Mother's Day!

When i woke up in the morning, facebook wall , whatsapp everything was flooded with messages and forwards on Mother's day!Seeing all this, I realized i had not wished my own mom, so thought of doing the  same. Actually i was forced to do think, how bad am i as a daughter; and how unlucky my mom is to have me as daughter who doesn't even remember to wish her Mother's Day! Weirdo!

Then i called her up, and the phone call lasted for about an hour with no mention of Mother's Day or what. We had a normal conversation like we always have, she is there to pour her heart and mind; and am there, all ears to her. And i just did not feel like completing the formality of wishing her Happy Mother's Day ! It felt like, if i fulfill the formalities with er, where will i go? I even do not know if she was expecting me to wish her, all i could sense was, she was more keen in our normal talks (or rather gossips) about family, friends, future plannings, and all.
And then i disconnected the call, after which i realized i still did not wish her! :P

I was wondering, since when this relation which is guess the purest and selfless of all possible relations in the world, required a day to celebrate itself? Is it sufficient to celebrate to it in a day and then forget? How many times in life, are we all ears to our parents the way they were when we were kids ?

I know a lot of people, who made sure that the first thing they do, is a post about wishing their moms on a social networking site (irrespective of their mom's presence on social networking site); how many of these actually wished them in person? Or rather even if they wished in person, then is it enough? In today's world, where we do not have a single moment for ourselves, is celebrating motherhood by a day enough to save the dying emotions? Not really. I think more important is to give time to your parents everyday instead of wishing them with gifts and all on just one day. It's good to pamper parents, as not only they, but every human being needs it. But pampering just for the sake of the day , isn't it mean? Rather just a show-off of emotions. Emotions are not for showcase, in fact are something which need to be felt and reciprocated equally. One may find it easy to showcase their feeling by posting on FB or keeping a status message dedicated to mothers; but does this really reciprocate the beautiful and selfless relation that one has with the mother ? Though the embical cord is cut-off once baby is out of womb, but a kid is always connected to his/her mom and for sure  a Facebook status to doesn't do justice to the bond.

How many mother's can say that their kids are their best friends? We have always heard people saying their parents are their best friends. But never heard any parent saying, their kid is their best friend. Wondering how is it possible to be friends only one way ! Phew!!!  Won't this day make more sense, if people understand, that they can be friends with their aging parents too! If that happens, am sure a lot of problems like generation gap will not be there and the world will become a better place to live!

Well, that's something a long term thing! :P For the moment, we have the Mother's Day!! So i wish

Happy mother's day to all the mothers,
to all the going to be mothers;
to all who want to be a mother,
and those who had been a mother once!
