Growth: A Journey, Not A Destination!

How do you define growth? Growth of a person, and not business. :)

Do you think, the increase in capability of executing things, or of better planning defines growth of a person? These days, am getting ample time to look back, and reflect on how have i grown or out-grown (a few things/people). Everyone knows, that people grow or evolve with time, new experiences bring changes to your thoughts. Something that you liked a few years ago, today you may start getting uncomfortable with. Can change in likes/dislikes be called growth? Or the learning that changed the like to dislike be called growth?

There could be multiple interpretations of growth, and each may be correct owing to the situation, age and existing benchmark of the person. Someone who could not complete any responsibility, is today capable of running a family. Is that growth or just an opportunity that person grasped to showcase his/her capabilities? Someone who could not stay alone, now prefers being on his/her own. Is that growth or more a result of disappointment? Someone who had always lived in shadow of a parent or an elder, today has to live on their own, will this be growth or again the only choice that life has given? (Too many questions, and am sure everyone will have a different answer!)

Over the time,  I have always connected growth to one's approach/response to the same situation at different points of time. So let's say a few years ago, how would you have responded to a situation, and if a similar situation happens today, how do you respond to it, the difference in your response to both will showcase the your growth! It could be a positive growth or it could be a decline purely dependent on how one had accelerated in life in that duration. This reminds me the concept of physics, about velocity and acceleration! If one had positive acceleration than the velocity will increase, and if one had accelerated negatively, then the velocity will decrease for sure! So for me, positive acceleration is positive growth, and de-acceleration would be negative growth.

What is your definition of growth?

"What do you know now in a deeper way than you knew it before?
I love this question because it honors how we learn and grow. Wisdom isn't about accumulating more facts; it's about understanding big truths in a deeper way."
