The Things That Stay!
Everyone has a different definition of life, and for all that happens with/in life. And that definition comes from the experiences we have had, the expectations we have and the kind of person we are, which eventually concludes to our experiences in life and our responses to the same!
Usually, success is defined as achieving something that a person has lacked in early life, and happiness is defined based on what a person values more. For example, if i value money more in life, i would be happier if i have more money, and would assume that someone who has money is happy in his/her life which may or may not be true.
Last month, while having a regular chit-chat with "My Angel" (just that this time it was face to face instead over a call), we discussed about who is happy and who is not. She asked me "If am happy in life?". Since i am able to do the things i like to do, we concluded that am happy. For her, she thought, as per my standards she is very unhappy, as our lives are contrasting. This left me surprised, once again on my lack of communicating thoughts. I told her my definition of happiness, and as per that "She is happy" as she is able to do all the things she likes/loves to do without any second thoughts or any kind of guilt. This conversation, though as it happened was one of the very mundane conversations that we have, but somehow it remained in my head. To the extent that i have practically revisited it a lot in last one month, and finally am writing it down here.
Some thoughts, some conversations just make a place in your head, not because they changed something or are revolutionary, but they inspire you to be more aware of how your thoughts are formed. This particular conversation, inspired me to be more thoughtful of how am conducting myself, more on the side, of what are things am doing to keep myself happy, or to keep peace. Nowadays, everything i do, i decide on it with this question - "Is it really that i want to do? or something am doing for the sake of doing? Or is it something i wish to do in a different and if yes, then why or why not?" I have become more aware of the fact, not just how my actions are impacting others, but also how are they impacting me in longer term. This may come across that i have become more difficult to deal with, as now i say "No" more often than i used to earlier, and at the same time, i have become more firm on certain things in life.
