Deejaying!

Another day of sabbatical, and i tried living up to my decision of doing one new thing each day!

As i mentioned earlier, i went on a trip a few months back (travelogue is  still pending), there i had met a few beautiful souls, and we just managed to keep in touch post that. Yesterday, was a day where one of these ladies had hosted us, for a simple chit chat kind of an evening. She happens to be a part time DJ, which was an additional incentive for me, to pay her a visit. When we were on the trip, she had suggested me to try my hands on DJ stuff, and i did try by downloading the software she had suggested. Post that i was quite keen to see two things - One, her as a DJ, and of course, another to learn how it is done.  She was kind enough to showcase her DJ skills, along with the instruments/mixer and giving us a walkthrough of how it works, and of course, some hands-on for me.

While she was setting up the system, i was torn apart, as she had a soulful place full of books and plants with a serene view (and the perfect weather) making everything a dream setting, and other side, was something i was thrilled for "the DJ mixer". At some point she mentioned, make yourself comfortable, and i was like, "Are you sure?", as then i would just pick up some book and would be lost on the terrace, and won't bother about anything else. She was quick to perceive, and refrained me from going that way! Well, for me, both things were tempting.

That's how we started off , she explained all the nuances of mixer, songs, how to pick on music, and how to create the "Stutter" effect, etc. After we got a download of her knowledge, we were like the kids who had just learnt some new jargons, and were over the moon. Quite an evening it was, now i know, "Cue", "Stutter", "Loader", "Mixer", juggling between the different song, "BPM", etc. All these words have a new meaning. She also helped us understand, how much effort and hard work goes into preparing for just one performance, the person needs to create a whole playlist, knowing each song by heart, understanding which song can go well with what others, and of course, be prepared for any impromptu requests coming from the audience.

And of course, i did get my first video of being a DJ (though it's a learners one), but yes, i can proudly say, i did try my hands over Deejaying (if that's a word :P )

Hopefully, i will practice and try more, and may be then might go for some things like this. Though it's not even a week into sabbatical, am already getting so many new ideas which i can pursue once this sabbatical is over!

Another day done blissfully, and again am full of gratitude that i got the chance to meet talented and lively people, who can do things beyond the regular mundane life and make it look like a cakewalk!
